Mark Geraghty - Vice President/Captain's Log Editor
I've been a member of Austrek for only a short time, but have been involved with Star Trek fandom around Australia since 1984! I got involved with fandom through fate – I won a competition when Star Trek 2 was released which entitled me to a year's membership in QUEST, the Ld Star Trek club. I attended my first convention in 1984, where George Takei was the guest. Since then, I've been involved in committees, organised conventions and met thousands of great people right around the world, all of whom share in the joy that Star Trek brings to our lives. I encourage anyone who's not already involved in fandom to come along to our meetings, attend the local conventions and get involved. My life is fuller for being part of this; yours can be too!

Aurelia (Reels) Cimino - General Secretary/Marketing
I Knew I liked Star Trek as a Child and actually manifested my enjoyment with a good friend in the early nineties when, on many, many Sundays, we would trawl through video libraries searching out Next Gen videos to watch while sipping strawberry daiquiris. And HE said "Get a Life"!!
Nowadays, I'm happy to join fellow members in Austrek at our monthly meetings, or away missions - now no one notices the hip flask :-) lol...

Emma Pippos - Treasurer / Librarian
Hi, my name is Emma Pippos and I'm the Treasurer and Librarian of the Club. I've been a member now for about seven years. I am a High School English and History teacher, and I generally teach years 8, 9, 10 and VCE classes. I have two children, a boy and a girl and my son was married recently. My hobbies are reading, going to the opera, gardening, sewing, embroidery, the theatre, dancing, Austrek and many more. I have been a fan of Star Trek since I watched it in the 60s and have loved every reincarnation of it, though the original is my favourite and Captain Kirk is my hero.

Melanie (Mel) Nemer - General Committee/ Catering
Hi, my name is Mel and I've been a part of the Austrek group for about 7 years now and this year is my first year on the committee, long over due. I love Sci-fi but Star Trek the most, and love that their main goal is to explore different places and meet different people. This has been a huge influence to me to be motivated & travel around our planet, which I've done plenty of. The group itself is a fantastic place to meet new people with the same interest, make new friends and of course, dress up. I love being creative and making costumes which has always been great fun and a fantastic ice-breaker.... I've even been green!

Ange Kene - Catering / Web Site Admin / Archives
Hi my name is Ange. I've been a member of Austrek since 1992. I have been a Star Trek Fan for more years than I can remember, but am also a general Sci-fi fan. A lot of my favourite Sci-fi are the classics and most B movies. I think Austrek and other Sci-fi clubs are important to the Sci-fi community, they bring people with the same interests together. I think that the social element is the most important part of the club, it encourages Star Trek values like communication, friendship and understanding. I just want the members of Austrek to know that even though I'm not that outspoken, I do my best to serve your interests in Austrek. If you see me at a meeting please come and say hi.
